SEO, GEO and answer engine optimization for B2B companies

Search engine optimization (SEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), and answer engine optimization (AEO) describe overlapping work to make a business easier to discover, understand, and evaluate in search and AI answers.

Start with the buyer’s decision

Separate buyers learning about a problem from those comparing vendors or preparing a budget. Useful pages answer a specific question: what the service does, when it fits, what affects price, what evidence is available, and what happens next. Avoid publishing many near-identical pages for minor keyword variations.

Make important content accessible

Publish useful text in crawlable pages with clear titles, internal links, canonical URLs, and a current sitemap. Keep structured data consistent with the visible business and service information. Allow the relevant search crawlers on public pages while keeping private accounts and APIs protected.

Help readers assess the claim

Use precise definitions, named authors where appropriate, dated references, specific scope, and genuine examples. Separate your own case studies from illustrative workflows. Explain dependencies and limitations that affect a buying decision, including recurring provider costs and operational ownership.

Measure the path to an enquiry

Review search impressions, queries, relevant landing pages, and qualified enquiries. Bing’s AI Performance report can show supported AI citation activity. AI referrals that expose a referrer can be reviewed separately, but neither citations nor referrals capture every interaction. Tie an enquiry to its landing page and campaign without collecting sensitive prompt content.

Set realistic expectations

There is no guaranteed Google ranking or placement in a ChatGPT or Copilot answer. Google says its usual SEO foundations apply to AI features; it does not require a special AI file or schema. OpenAI distinguishes its search crawler from its training crawler. A clear public site and appropriate crawl access support discovery, but the systems decide what to index and cite.

Build a practical starting scope

Start with technical discovery issues, a small group of useful commercial pages, and a working conversion path. Review whether the enquiries match the intended audience before expanding the content program. Redko can scope technical SEO, service content, measurement, and the application work needed to support the funnel.
